Jadyn has a new dress! It's made of fuchsia sequins and twinkle satin with silver crosshatch pattern on the bodice and knotwork on the yoke and sleeves. All the appliqué is covered in rhinestones, so it's super-sparkley!

This new solo dress is a belted bolero style in rich red velvet with gold sequined appliqué outlined in black. The background is a very glittery black sequin fabric. These colours look great on you Macaela!

New Creative Policy Effective April 1, 2013

To my customers and friends:

Earning a new solo dress is a huge accomplishment for your child, and a huge expense for you. Having one custom-made is a major event, and should be exciting and fun for all involved. When I create a dress for one of you my goal is always to produce a superior product that you, your daughter and I all love, and to enjoy the process at the same time.

Over the last few years that process has somehow gone off-track, and I am now finding that the initial design and decision-making aspect of it has become onerous for parents, daughters and myself. Lately I find myself feeling extremely stressed and frustrated with the process, and have noticed in my customers similar stress, often coupled with confusion, and friction between parent and child. This is far from ideal.

With that in mind, I have decided to instigate a new creative policy- one that mimics the methods used by the big Irish Dance dressmakers overseas. Hopefully this will relieve the customer of anxiety and streamline the whole process. This policy is permanently posted on the sidebar at right, under the heading "New Creative Policy Effective April 1, 2013."

If anyone currently on my list (for a dress being made after April 1, 2013) wishes, as a result of this policy change, to be removed from my list, I believe I have given you enough time to order a dress from elsewhere and still receive it in time for NAN’s. If you would like to be removed, please inform me of your decision, so that I can fill your spot with someone on my waiting list.

New Pink and Gold Dress

Congrats on your new dress, Mary! It's made of pink and fuschia twinkle satin on the yoke and sleeves, and holo gold hanging sequins on the lower bodice and skirt. There are black borders with knotwork in pink stitching, and scrollwork outlined in black on the yoke, sleeves and cape. Lots of big rhinestones, and lots of sparkle. I can't wait to see you wearing it at the Van Eire Feis!

For Sale: 11 month old pink/black/white/silver military-style dress, worn by a petite 10 year old, suitable for an 8-10 year old.

 

The dress has approximately 3-4 inches of let out. Bodice is all pink sequins with rhinestone buttons. Cuffs, collar and gun patches are rhinestone-covered silver. Skirt is white plisse taffeta with a silver ruffle underneath.

 

Beautiful Camelia Rose headpiece, with matching AB Crystal buttons and matching bow included. Available in late February, asking price $1500 obo.

New Copper Ivory and Gold Dress

New Lady's 14T dress.  The bodice is a 'jacket' made of copper mirror sequins bordered with black silk velvet, which is adorned with bright gold scroll work. The skirt and yoke are a shot metallic ivory damask, and the skirt is bordered with black, gold and copper. The under-ruffles on the skirt are bright copper foil and gold sparkle tulle.

New Turquoise and White Solo Dress

Girls Size 8 dress. It has a vibrant turquoise lame bolero and skirt, which is covered in small AB crystals. The bolero has a wide gold sequined border, and sits on a white twinkle satin bodice displaying white Celtic knotwork outlined in gold. There are jewelled 'medals' and an under-ruffle of dark blue crinkle taffeta.

Flying Colours Closed May 6 to June 10

Greetings Everyone!

As many of you know, my daughter Natalie has been in Turkey this last year, finishing up her undergraduate degree. Wayne and I will be heading off to visit her, and see that amazing country, in early May. As a result, I will be temporarily closing Flying Colours Dancewear from MAY 6th to JUNE 10th. I will re-open on Monday June 11th, which will give me 3 weeks to do alterations for NANs dancers.

While I'm away, my dear friend Moira S will be handling my phone for me, so if you need alterations done for NANs please feel free to call and she will hold a spot for you: (604) 723-3509. I will not, however, be checking e-mail while I'm gone, so if you contact me that way you will not hear back from me until June 11th.
